Membrane filtration technique is a kind of highly efficient,low energy consumption and easy operation liquid separation technique,which is promising in wastewater treatment.Based on the introduction of properties and classification of filtration membrane,the application and its progressin wastewater treatment are described,including its application to the treatment of oil-bearing wastewater,domestic wastewater,paper industry wastewater,color wastewater,dye wastewater,chemical synthesis wastewater,heavy metalion wastewater,etc.The direction of membrane filtration technique development in the futureisal so discussed.Reducing membrane pollution and developing cheap membrane and modules are important in wastewater treatment by membrane filtration technique.Combining membrane filtration technique with other wastewater treatment technique in practical application will exert advantages of each method and their coordination effects,obtaining best treatment effects and optimale conomical benefit.
