A treatment study of some wastewater from the ore decomposition process in a tantalum and niobium plant with F-concentration being 1 836 mg/L is presented. The treatment was conducted by using zeolite. We analyzed the influence of the dosages of zeolite, the content of fluoride in wastewater and the time of adsorbing on the removal efficiency of fluoride about non-modified zeolite. The treatment results show that the removal efficiency of fluoride is low. Zeolite modified by AlCl3 can increase the removal efficiency of fluoride up to beyond 95%. F-concentration in wastewater drops to under 10 mg/L, which meets the requirement of the first grade National Standard for wastewater discharge.
