The chemical-biological flocculation process has been studied for treating the Shanghai low concentration municipal wastewater under a variety of PAFC dosage in order to further the research on its flocculation mechanism. The results of the parallel pilot-scale experiment show that the chemical-biological flocculation process is a highly integrated wastewater treatment process of the chemical flocculation and the biological flocculation, and the chemical-biological flocculation process is superior to the chemical enhanced primary treatment process. While the PAFC dosage is 70 mg/L (Al2O3 10.8%,Fe2O3 1.8%), the CODCr, TP, SS and NH3 concentrations of effluent from the chemical-biological flocculation process meet the national wastewater integrated discharge standard at the condition of the total HRT 2 h, the PAM dosage of 0.5 mg/L, the sludge reflux ratio of 33%, the DO of 1.9-3.2 mg/L, 1.3-2.5 mg/L and 0.3-1.5 mg/L in different corridors.
