Abstract

Based on the coagulation tests given to two different water sources, it is found that the method of evaluating the coagulation effect by the turbidity of the coagulated water is effective on the source of the general water quality. But it is impossible to accurately find out the best coagulant and coagulating conditions of certain water sources with special water quality, such as water with low temperature and low turbidity, and/or in the case of having higher requirement about the water quality of the coagulated water, such as reverse osmosis influent. Therefore, it is suggested that the indexes of measuring the flocculate size, growth velocity and the compressive degrees of the sludge be used for evaluating the coagulation test effect. Compared with the method of evaluating the coagulation effect by the turbidity of the coagulated water, the newmethod is more accurate.
