Abstract

The respiration of microbes in activated sludge is in close relation to the removal of the substratum in wastewater and the growth of microbes.Based on the wastewater quality on the respiration of the microbes in activated sludge technology,the application of respirometry to the determination of the basic components SS,XS,XBH and XBA of activated sludge Model 1 (ASM1) is expounded.The application of the respirometry to the functions of influent toxicity precaution and protection of the activated sludge system have been analysed.
