Abstract

The decoloration of acid red GR by Fe- Cu internal electrolysis method has been studied. In the Fe- Cu internal electrolysis of acid red GR, the effects of initial pH, rate of stirring, concentration of dye, concentration of electrolyte, water temperature, etc, have been investigated. The optimum operating range for each of these variables is experimentally determined.The experimental results reveal that the color of acid red GR in aqueous phase is effectively removed (> 95%) and the chemical oxygen demand (CODCr) reduced (55%). The Fe - Cu internal electrolysis method is found to be quite effective in removing of acid red GR. This method can accommodate a wide pH range.
