Study on Fe2+/HClO reagent treating β-naphthol wastewater

Abstract

In this study we use NaClO to produce HClO in the acidic solution for replacing H2O2 in the Fenton reagent to treat naphthol wastewater. The results show that we can treat-naphthol wastewater more effectively. The pH,[Fe2+] and the dosage of NaClO play a significant role in the Fe2+/HClO oxidation process. With the irradiation of medium-pressure mercury lamp, after 60 min photod egradation in the Fe2+/HClO system, the CODCr removal of-naphthol wastewater is 60.8% while the CODCr removal is only 45.1% without illumination.【Key Words】: sodium hypochloritephotodegradation-naphtholwastewater treat ment
