phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid (PBTCA) is a kind of water treatment agent whichhas excellent property and developing prospect.Hydrolysis of 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid pentamethyl ester are studied.The designation of hydrolysis end-point and the influences of the amount and use of repetition of catalyst to the yield of PBTCA have been discovered.The method of using the solid catalyst to replace liquid acid has the following advantages: small amount of catalyst, reusable, simple treatment after reaction, short reaction time, stable in product quality and high purity.The molecular structure of the product is verified by IR, 13C-NMR.The content of this product is 92% by P-NMR.
