The application of smectite which is modif ied by quaternary ammonium compound cation surfactant,hexadecyltrimethylammonium (HDTMA)to industrial wastewater treatment has been studied.The results showthat organoclay has strong adsorptive capacity to the organic pollutant in wastewater.And,the presence of microorganism provides the possibility for the regeneration of organoclay.Thus,organoclay will have great applicable prospect in the treatment of organic industrial wastewater.
