Abstract

The electrochemical oxidation of organic pollutants is a promising process for organisms which are re- calcitrant to biological degradation. The anodic oxidation of salicylic acid was evaluated on an electrode of acti- vated carbon fiber under a low current density (<10 mA/cm2)and a low electrolyte concentration (0.07 mol/L Na2SO4).The effects of the applied current density, mass transfer, flow rate of circulation, the electrolyte and its concentration have been investigated through a series of experiments, and the possible oxidation mechanism is discussed.
