Study on the synthesis and performance of phosphorus-containing sulphonate copolymer

Abstract

The copolymer is prepared from the monomers of acrylic acid (AA)and 2-acrylamido -2-methyl- propanesulfonic acid (AMPS)in water solvent, initiated by sodium hypophosphite-sodium persulfate initiators. It contains phosphonic acid, carboxylic acid and sulphonic acid groups.The effects of the monomer' s ratio, the amount of initiator, reaction temperature and reaction time on the corresponding product' s scale inhibiting performance have been studied.The results show that the copolymer possesses quite good effect on reducing scale depositions of CaCO3, Ca3(PO4)2and zinc salts.
