Abstract

The corrosion rates of carbon-steel in ozone and Cr(Ⅵ )solutions are primarily investigated. The experiments proves that ozone and Cr(Ⅵ )show excellent synergistic corrosion-inhibition.The synergism is affected by the concentrations of ozone and Cr(Ⅵ ).The corrosion rates decrease while the concentrations of Cr(Ⅵ )increase. The optimum range for ozone in aqueous solutions is 0.05 ~ 0.1mg L.Within the range,an excellent corrosion-inhibition for carbon-steel is achieved while Cr(Ⅵ )is 2.5 ~ 5.0 mg L.The synergistic corrosion-inhibition is improved greatly while the carbon-steel is pretreated by potassium chromate solutions.
