The way to reducing ammonia nitrogen in the circulating cooling water system is introduced. It is summarized in four aspects: escaping from the cooling tower, nitrifying, etc. Then the ammonia nitrogen effect on the circulating cooling water system is researched in two aspects: microbe and metal corrosion. The relations between ammonia nitrogen and microbe development, and four ways in which ammonia nitrogen corrodes the metal are indicated. At last, through static metal hanging slice test, the relation between ammonia nitrogen and B30 corrosion is proved. The relational expression is y = 0.0004x1.4461.
