两性型醚化淀粉絮凝剂CMSG的合成、性能及稳定性

Synthesis, performance and stability of amphoteric etherified starch flocculant CMGS

摘要:

以玉米淀粉(St)为原料,2,3-环氧丙基三甲基氯化铵(GTA)和氯乙酸(CAA)分别作为阳离子和阴离子醚化剂,通过一步法合成了两性型醚化淀粉CMGS。以阳离子度为主要评价标准,对CMSG的合成条件进行了优化。发现当St投加量为10 g,m(St)∶m(GTA)∶m(CAA)=2∶2∶1,催化剂NaOH投加量为1.0 g,反应温度为70 ℃,反应时间为4 h时,产物CMSG-2的阳离子度可达1.21 mmol/g。产物结构表征结果证实醚化反应成功引入了酰胺基团和羧基。絮凝性能测试显示,CMGS-2对高岭土悬浊液表现出良好的絮凝效果,最佳投加量为12 mg/L,透光率可达90.6%,絮凝窗长度为26 mg/L。稳定性研究显示,提纯后的粉末产品的絮凝性能随贮存时间延长而下降;贮存30 d后,达到相近絮凝效果所需投加量增至初始状态的3.3倍,这主要是因为淀粉链上的阴、阳离子基团通过静电吸引,形成了难溶的聚电解质复合物。

Abstract:

An amphoteric etherified starch CMGS was synthesized in a one-step method by using cornstarch (St) as raw material, 2, 3-epoxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (GTA) and chloroacetic acid (CAA) as cationic and anionic etherification agents, respectively. The synthesis conditions of CMSG were optimized with cationic degree as the primary evaluation criterion. It was found that when the St dosage of 10 g, m(St)∶m(GTA)∶m(CAA)=2∶2∶1, the catalyst NaOH dosage of 1.0 g, the reaction temperature of 70 ℃, and the reaction time of 4 h, cationic degree of the product CMSG-2 could reach 1.21 mmol/g. The characterization results of the product structure confirmed that the etherification reaction successfully introduced amide groups and carboxyl groups. The flocculation performance test showed that CMGS-2 exhibited good flocculation effect on both kaolin suspension. The optimal dosage was 12 mg/L, the light transmittance could reach 90.6%, and the flocculation window length was 26 mg/L. Stability studies showed that the flocculation performance of purified powder products decreased with prolonged storage time. After 30 days of storage, the required dosage to achieve similar flocculation effect increased to 3.3 times of the initial state, mainly because of the formation of insoluble polyelectrolyte complexes through electrostatic attraction between the anionic and cationic groups on the starch chain.
