Abstract:

Starch/silica composite microspheres have been synthesized by sol-gel method using potato starch, corn starch, and TEOS as raw materials, and ammonia water as catalyst. Its adsorption capacity for lead (Ⅱ) ions in water is studied. The results show that starch/silica composite microspheres have perfect adsorption capacity for lead(Ⅱ) ions in water under weak alkaline condition. Its adsorption behavior for lead (Ⅱ) ions complies with Langmuir model and Freundlich model. Its maximum adsorption capacity for lead ions is 31.34 mg/g. The kinetics research shows that the adsorption of starch/silica composite microspheres for lead(Ⅱ) ions is in line with pseudo second kinetic model. The chemical reaction on the activity site of starch/silica composite microspheres is adsorption control steps.
