Application of Fe3O4 nano-particles to the treatment of oil-bearing wastewater

Abstract

Abstract:

Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles have been prepared by chemical co-precipitation method,and the composition and morphology of Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles characterized. The results show that Fe₃O₄ particles look like spheres approximately,whose grain diameter is 20 nm,in cubic crystal shape. Under magnetic field effect,200 mg/L of Fe₃O₄ and 150 mg/L of cationic demulsifier LY are used in combination,so as to make the oil in simulated oil-bearing wastewater be reduced from 413.4 mg/L to 27.4 mg/L,and the oil removing rate reaches 93.3%. Zeta potential test shows that the composition of Fe₃O₄ and LY can neutralize the electric charges on the surfaces of oil drops. Fe₃O₄ can be regenerated with ethanol and deionized water under ultrasonic irradiation. Its oil removing rate is still above 60%,after having been used more than three times repeatedly.

摘要：

采用化学共沉淀法制备Fe₃O₄纳米颗粒，并对其组成和形貌进行了表征。结果表明：Fe₃O₄颗粒近似球形，粒径20 nm，呈立方晶型。在磁场作用下，200 mg/L的Fe₃O₄与150 mg/L的阳离子破乳剂LY复配使用，使模拟含油污水中的油由413.4 mg/L降至27.4 mg/L，除油率达到93.3%。Zeta电位测试表明，Fe₃O₄与LY复配可中和油滴表面电荷。Fe₃O₄用乙醇、去离子水超声水洗再生，重复使用3次，其除油率仍在60%以上。
