Abstract: Self-developed bentonite-steel slag composite particles are cheap and efficient mineral materials. By in-vestigating its removing effect on Mn2+ and the changing law of pH, comparing and analyzing its removing effects of composite particles, de-alkaline particles and single addition of alkali on Mn2+, phenomena, and SEM characterization of the surface microstructure of the composite particles, as well as XRD mineral phase characteristics, its synergistic mechanism for treating acidic mine wastewater containing Mn2+ has been further investigated. The results show that the composite particles treatment of wastewater containing Mn2+ not only has adsorption and chemical settlement effects, but also continues to adsorb and has poly-settlement effect after having surface adsorption for Mn2+ and forming surface chemical settlement. It means adsorption-polysettlement synergistic effect occurs. The occurrence of Mn2+ on composite particles surface is mainly the occurrence of polysettlement of Mn-Si-O combined mineral phase and CaMn4Si5O14(OH)2.
